library with seagulls, and asides about dub music

editor’s note: this painting was reposted with better pictures later. however, this post has been left intact to preserve a picture of the artist’s mind at 4:30 in the morning.

YAY! i finished another painting. been staying up late two nights in a row (4:45am right now) cause after a certain point, when you see you’re about done, it’s so hard to wait another day. Pleaswe excuse any typos, abrupt sentences.

also, the pics aren’t so great, taken in my apartment in the middle of the night. They turn out much better when taken outside somewhere. and without SHAKEY HANDS which unfortunately i sometimes have.

What’s up with the jamaican person voice that was in every single “ReMiX” of ANY song from like…1989-2000? It never mattered WHAT the man or woman was saying, the song might be about the very subjective passion for another person one might form in a week or two, or one night, depending on substances involved, and all about how they feel like they are spinning around cause they are so mad crazy in love, and then computerized drum comes on and you here some jamaican guy say “FRRRREEEEEEEEEEDOM!!!! -dom -dom -dom”

I’m not a big fan of those songs, and not really a big fan of reggae or dub (it’s neat, i just don’t own any…) but wouldn’t it be great to have some really small portably voco-thing that you could talk into, and all your words would have that echo-y dub sound? and, of course, it would play a backbeat right after you yell something.

i’m trying to think of hilarious every-day-conversation bits to use as examples, but i actually don’t talk to many people in the course of a regular day. and when i do feel talkative i get shot down for only talking about something irrelevant and bizarre, like hyena penises. which is a totally different topic from what we’re on right now.

but, imagine that in a jamaican dub voice!

“HY-EEEEEEEE NAH -nah PEEEEEENISES ses ses ses!!! FREEEEDOM! EEEEEASY BOBY ON DEH CONTROLS!!!”

okay, i’m going to bed. or at least ending this post and leaving y’all alone.

That’s a great picture with strange perspectives 😉 But what I like the most is the area aroung the green book, not sure why.
